Feeling a little stumped by the technical language in your Local Authority requirements?

Don’t worry, we will able to talk you through it.

Or you may not need to get so involved and simply wish us to deal with it and make the issue go away.  Either way is fine with us.

Here are some of the terms that you might see from your Local Authority – there are many others besides.

  • Terminology: LAeq, LA90, LAmax, NR value, Rw, DnT,w, LnT,w, airborne sound insulation, impact sound insulation, noise rating level, ambient noise level, background noise level

  • Guidance & legislation: BS8233, BS4142, BS5228, BS6472, BB93, Approved Document E of the Building Regulations, Noise at Work Regulations, Local Authority planning guidance

  • Requirements: e.g. to ensure low impact, no adverse impact, cause no noise nuisance, not exceed 10 dB below background, meet good standard (BS8233), low probability of adverse comment (BS6472) etc

Whatever’s relevant in your case, we would tailor our work to respond specifically to the matter in hand.
